English and Welsh surname from the Middle English personal name Jon(e) plus the genitive -s. In Wales it represents an anglicization of the patronymic ap Siôn; Welsh patronymics were replaced by fixed English-style surnames from the 16th century (Laws in Wales Acts), and Jones became widespread as a hereditary surname in the 18th-19th centuries. First recorded in England in 1273 (Matilda Jones). It is the most common surname in Wales.

Jones is above all a Welsh name, and the daffodil is the flower of Wales.
Most surnames have no single "family crest". In heraldry, a coat of arms belonged to one person and passed down one line of descent. Sites that sell "the Jones coat of arms" usually show the arms of one historic family that shared the name. Ours is different on purpose: an original design built from what the name means, which any Jones can own honestly.
Blankets: soft velveteen plush (100% polyester), printed on one side; may run up to 3 in. short of the listed size. Rugs: polyester chenille with hemmed edges and a coated backing, for indoor use. Both are printed in the USA (Georgia and North Carolina).
